The Sound of Music
This song can mirror Edna’s life. She has kept secrets to herself, and she has had no way to come out of it. The lyrics of this song explain how she has been trapped in a mountain of lies, but finally being able to come out.
Suffocation.

The ocean is 3/4 of the entire earth. Because of this simple fact, the ocean is a pretty big deal for anybody, especially for Edna. She accomplished a big step when she learned how to swim. The ocean can be seen as a symbol for life. The ocean is composed of many strange objects and obstacles, the same as life. Also, the ocean being as a symbol of not being able to breathe, and suffocation, as Mr. Pontellier was suffocating Edna. The meaning of being able to swim and overcoming a fear, makes Edna become stronger and creates a higher self-esteem within her. The summer made her into a completely different person, and made her realize how she was being used as a puppet, as I mentioned in by previous blog. She became stronger and we can see this when Leonce, ordered Edna to go inside and she stood up for herself.
Hypocrisy? More Like White Lies

Hypocrisy. People may see this word and react negatively towards it. The problem is, hypocrisy is being used in our daily lives, without even noticing it. People may also say, that this statement is true, but that they don’t use it; the problem is, that they do. Even thinking of using hypocrisy not to hurt other people’s feelings, is the same if using it in a negative way.

dered him to back off. I believe that this show of intolerance of him is because she is envy about the attention that Mr. Pontellier is giving to Edna. I also realized how they both control and manage Edna as if she was a puppet. They make all her decisions thinking that she has no voice when she does.

Martin Heidegger. Feeling Smart huh?

Martin Heidegger was a Nazi philosopher who had a very great question in mind. Relax, I know that the word NAZI can caught you by surprise, but you can’t let it cloud

your mind. This great philosopher started his book, Introduction to Metaphysics, with this question, Why are there being instead of nothing? He states how the human being, gets to a point in life in which they ask this question to themselves, or maybe they never reach it. I believe that Edna, has gotten to the point where she is asking this big question. She is starting to wond
er why is she here on Earth, and what is her purpose in life. My blog van me similar to Maria Luisa’s blog, but I promise I had this idea first! I mostly agree with her blog, but what I slightly disagree is
with her reason, in why we ask this question. I don’t believe it is out of boredom. I believe that there comes a point in a human’s life, in which the question appears. Whether they are going through a rough time or a great time, the question will appear when someone wants to know if there is more to life.
Short Chapter? YES!

Well, when I bumped into the magnificent chapter of one page, I was thrilled. Who wouldn’t be? When all of this excitement was running through my veins, I couldn’t help but notice, how the tone of the narrator started to change. She stopped telling a story, as in the previous 5 chapters, but gave us an inner look into Mrs. Pontelliers thoughts. She started doubting what was she doing with her life, and why had she ended up the way she did; with husband she doesn’t love, and with 2 children at the simple age 0f 24. Most people would call this a mid-life crisis, when in truth, she is only 24, and she hasn’t even reached 30´s yet.
I believe that what the author was trying to do with writing just one page with Mrs. Pontelliers thoughts was to create an idea to the reader, that there is no time for her to complain or to think about what she has done in her life. Also, that there is no space for her to tell her troubles and concerns. It was one page, where she was starting to wake up.
