Well, when I bumped into the magnificent chapter of one page, I was thrilled. Who wouldn’t be? When all of this excitement was running through my veins, I couldn’t help but notice, how the tone of the narrator started to change. She stopped telling a story, as in the previous 5 chapters, but gave us an inner look into Mrs. Pontelliers thoughts. She started doubting what was she doing with her life, and why had she ended up the way she did; with husband she doesn’t love, and with 2 children at the simple age 0f 24. Most people would call this a mid-life crisis, when in truth, she is only 24, and she hasn’t even reached 30´s yet.
I believe that what the author was trying to do with writing just one page with Mrs. Pontelliers thoughts was to create an idea to the reader, that there is no time for her to complain or to think about what she has done in her life. Also, that there is no space for her to tell her troubles and concerns. It was one page, where she was starting to wake up.
